Summary of Blogs

From placement I have learnt that all students are going to be a different ability levels and activities may need to be adapted so that all of the students will be able to take part in activities. Demonstrations have to be used more with younger children as it is easier for them to understand and they do not have to listen as long. Demonstrations are an effective way to use non- verbal communication which was successful use of communication due to the students not having good English. The coach- athlete relationship is important as it allows for us to build trust, respect and allows for us to show as coaches that we are committed and have fun with the students to build a positive relationship meaning that the students are more likely to try in our lesson and improve their skills. Finally I learnt that make sure you plan effectively your sessions including the practice structure because if you spend too much time setting up the next activity the children loose focus very quickly and easily and can be hard to get the engagement back.

Next year

Going into next year I am going to create a SMART target which i will try and achieve in level 6.

Specific- I will try and make all my sessions inclusive as possible so that all the students are involved in the session and are doing the set tasks even if they have to adapted

Measurable- I will be able to see if this is achieved as all of the students will be on task and no one will be sat out or excluded

Achievable- This will be achievable as i will be able to plan clear adaptations of what i would do and why to adapt the task so that all participants can be involved in the sessions.

Realistic- I believe this is realistic as all students should be participants in sport no matter of their ability or any disabilities so by adapting tasks it means that all students can be involved.

Time- This will be hopefully achieved within a year.
